Our Training Philosophy: Positive Reinforcement

Positive reinforcement training focuses on rewarding desired behaviors to encourage dogs to repeat them.

Instead of punishing mistakes, it redirects and teaches alternatives, fostering a cooperative relationship built on trust, clear communication, and mutual respect.

This method avoids fear, intimidation, or physical correction, and instead uses treats, praise, toys, or play to reinforce good choices.

Appreciate the Dog’s Point of View

Understand how dogs perceive the world, learn, and express themselves. Training adapts to their sensory and emotional experience.

Recognize and Meet the Dog’s Needs

Respect natural behaviors and provide outlets for physical, mental, and social needs. Suppression leads to frustration; fulfillment leads to balance.

Understand and Apply Positive Training

Use rewards to reinforce desired behaviors. Avoid punishment, intimidation, or dominance-based methods.

Create a Supportive Learning Environment

Create a safe, supportive learning environment. Fear-based methods damage trust and can lead to anxiety or aggression.

Take Your Partnership With Your Dog to New Heights

Enrolling in classes is a practical way to take your partnership with your dog to new heights by giving both of you structured time to learn, communicate, and grow together.

In a class setting, your dog gains clear guidance, positive experiences, and consistent practice, while you build skills that make everyday life smoother and more enjoyable.

Working with a trainer helps you understand how your dog learns, how to reinforce good habits, and how to navigate challenges with confidence.

Over time, this shared learning strengthens trust, improves teamwork, and creates a more connected, responsive relationship, one that carries over into everything you do together.

Our Reviews

This is what our students have to say about their experiences.

Rebecca and Henry are really a dream team. I have been a frequent student of Rebecca’s Barn Hunt classes over the past 2 years and felt so happy to hear that she and Henry are spearheading a new project. Rebecca is a very imaginative instructor and she and her teaching have become addictive for me and my dog Frankie. We have learned a lot from her and look forward to continuing on this path. I am amazed at how much better I understand my dog and her capacity for problem solving. The classes are really fun and it doesn’t matter if my dog and I are competing or not. Everyone is treated the same.

I am also happy that there will be many dog sports and activities to try with this new venture. Henry has lots of experience with the business and administrative side of starting up. I look forward to seeing what this power couple can achieve.

I started taking Barn Hunt classes with Rebecca in January 2025, and Rally and NASDA classes with Kendra around the same time.

Both Rebecca and Kendra have great teaching methods and really know how to work with both dogs and handlers. My dogs are always excited for class. I enjoy the classes just as much and have learned a lot along the way.

If it wasn’t for their classes, we likely never would have started going to dog trials. Both instructors have been extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to preparing for trials and helping build confidence for both the dogs and myself.

It’s been great getting to meet other like-minded people in the dog community, and I’ve made some really good friends along the way through their classes.

I’m really excited to see Skybound Dog Training open. It’s going to be such a great space for training and for the dog community. I’m looking forward to continuing classes there and seeing it grow.

I am overjoyed to see that Kendra will be offering rally and NASDA at skybound. I have taken countless courses in rally with Kendra and look forward to continuing with Frankie. Kendra is patient and exceedingly positive with us. I have enjoyed all of our courses and Frankie, my joyful slightly crazy dog, does as well. In future I look forward to starting up again with NASDA. These dog sports are so good for Frankie and I to reach a closer bond and it is helping her settle down and use her brain.
